2025 Welcome & BST Sponsors

We are thrilled to be just a few days away from announcing our 2025 team – we have seen several new changes to the Spartathlon organisation and in the ever thriving world of ultramarathons and events we are also experiencing new things with our BST. Watch this space.

We are excited to see a new set of brilliant females in this years squad and are committed to looking at ways to increase the inclusion, participation and representation from all groups in the coming years.

BRITISH SPARTATHLON TEAM STATUS UPDATE:

As many of you will know one of the main purposes of this group is to seek sponsorship so that we can arrange for a glorious team kit. Over the years we have built a strong team bond which has helped many crewed and uncrewed athletes achieve their Spartathlon dreams.

We have also inspired other countries with our team approach – our website is full of useful information that is accessible to every runner from around the world.

The management team will continue to pursue ways in which we can support runners from all backgrounds in Spartathlon and we are excited about some of the new partnerships being explored to make this happen.

2025 TEAM SPONSORS:

None of the website, the team kit and much more would happen if it weren’t for the kind support of our sponsors each year. We are grateful to the current (and wonderful past) team members who approached sponsors.

We are delighted to welcome Butcombe Brewery who are our main sponsor for 2025.. As well as ensuring that we could organise full team and crew kit for another year they have also supplied team members with some non-alcoholic product to try.

We were keen to ask Butcombe some questions about their chosen support of the British Team:

Who are Butcombe Brewing Co?

Bristol born and made to stand out, Butcombe Brewing Co. began life at a time of cultural, social and political change, crafting beer before ‘craft beer’ was even a thing. You see, at that time, no one was risking it all starting a brewery, making simple, premium, easy-drinking ale. To do so was an act of defiance. Or madness. But, over 45 years later and a lot of hard graft, by staying true to our beliefs and Bristolian roots, it looks like owning a resolutely maverick brewing company isn’t such a crazy idea after all. By going against the grain, to work intimately with it, we made our own statement with every pint. And what was true then is just as important today.

We’re made of different stuff at Butcombe. We’re an eclectic bunch of passionate people, all brought together by our love of food, drink and service. We get the greatest buzz from seeing customers enjoying the food and drink we’ve made and served with love. Everything we do is from the heart…

What do you do?

We are part of an award-winning company, Butcombe Group. Which is an award-winning, market leading business consisting of over 120 pubs and inns with around 400 rooms, stretching from Mayfair to St.Aubin, Jersey, and employing over 1,800 people. Our Brewing and Drinks businesses. Based in the Southwest is we are one of the original craft brewers, with our state-of-the-art brewery in Wrington, Bristol and a multi-million-pound distribution and bottling plant in Bridgwater, Somerset. We supply range of award-winning beers, including Butcombe Original, South West favourite cask beer, Tall Tales Pale Ale, one of the fastest growing key ales in the southwest and Goram IPA Zero, one of the most highlty award non-alcoholic IPA’s in the world.

Why have you decided to support the British Spartathlon team for the 2025 race.

“We are really delighted to be supporting the British Spartathlon team for the 2025 race. We are excited to be supporting such an iconic event and all the team with Goram IPA Zero. Which is one of the most popular and decorated non-alcoholic beers in the UK. We’d like to wish all the 2025 team the very best of luck and we look forward to toasting their success at the Finish Line”

Steve Gordon:

I chose to support the British Spartathlon Team because this race is deeply personal to me. As a three-time Spartathlon finisher, I know first-hand the grit, discipline, and mental strength it takes to reach Sparta. I’m proud to be running again in 2025, and even prouder to support the incredible athletes taking on this challenge. Spartathlon isn’t just a race—it’s a journey that builds lifelong friendships and unites people through shared resilience. It’s everything we believe in at Oyster Wealth Management.
