What is your running background?

Started running at the year of my fortieth birthday. Running all ‘Great’ runs in 2013.

When did you first start running Ultra marathons and why?

Race the Stones in 2015 was my first Ultra. Local race and was looking for the next challenge.

When or where (at which events) are we most likely to see you?

Most likely to see me running on the Ridgeway.

What are your personal key running achievements to date?

Spartathlon finisher, UTMB finisher, Cape Wrath finisher.

What was your hardest experience?

Cape Wrath 2022. Still not fully recovered!

What is your typical race strategy for an ultra?

Start last. Maintain an even pace.

What does a typical training week look like?

Approx 40 miles running around the block around my home.

What one tip would you pass onto people running an Ultra marathon for the first time?

Start slow. Eat and drink often.

Tell us one interesting fact about you?

I hold a World Record.

Have you taken part in the Spartathlon before?

Yes in 2019, Finisher. 33hr 37mins

Where did you get your qualifier for Spartathlon:

What are you looking forward to at the Spartathlon race?

Having the British Spartathlon atmosphere – I have never experienced as much camaraderie as I have at this race.

What are you not looking forward to during the Spartathlon race?

Breathing the air around factories on the outskirts of Athens – left a nasty taste.

How will you prepare specifically for the Spartathlon race?

Plans were made – plans ripped up.  Mainly concentrating on being healthy and giving myself the best chance on finishing.

Will you be bringing any support crew to the race? (If so, please introduce them briefly)

My sister has specifically stated if I did it again – she would be there. (She enjoyed it that much)  Rob Pilkington may make an appearance…..
