What is your running background?
Began running in 2008 and would run one marathon a year until 2011.
When did you first start running Ultra marathons and why?
I started in 2011 to improve my marathon time. I probably should’ve looked at getting a faster half marathon time.
When or where (at which events) are we most likely to see you?
I’ll be running JOGLE in April and La High Ultra in August 2015.
What are your personal key running achievements to date?
Thames Ring 250 miles (2013), Spartathlon (2014)
What was your hardest race experience?
Probably the Viking Way Ultra (A Mark Cockbain event)
What events do you have planned for 2015 up to Spartathlon?
I’ll be running JOGLE in April and La High Ultra in August 2015.
What is your typical race strategy for an ultra?
Check elevation profile and conditions. Generally maintain an initial 10km/hr pace.
What does a typical training week look like?
I spend more time in the gym doing stretching and leg weight exercises.
What one tip would you pass onto people running an Ultra marathon for the first time?
Run at an easy pace with frequent walking breaks. Look after your nutrition – Salt/Sugar and lots of calories.
Can you tell us one interesting fact about yourself?
Used to play a lot of Snooker when I was growing up from age 13 till 17.

Have you taken part in the Spartathlon before?
Yes, in 2014.
How did you get on?
I completed the event with a time of 32hours (2014)
What tip would you pass on to those taking part for the first time?
Within the first 50miles try your best to not to read (in-detail) any of the check point signs.
What are you looking forward to at the Spartathlon race?
Hotel Food, Good friends and the mountain.
What are you not looking forward to during the Spartathlon race?
The long continuous uphill before the mountain.
How will you prepare specifically for the Spartathlon race?
Strengthening legs and lots of stretching.
Will you be bringing any support crew to the race?
No.
